Music Therapy for Brain Cancer Patients — Sloan-Kettering

Music therapy is offered to some cancer patients through Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s Integrative Medicine Department. Music therapist Karen Popkin describes how playing relaxing music for patients or engaging them in musical activity can help them cope with the emotional and physical demands of treatment, such as fatigue, pain, and depression. Popkin notes that music, which stimulates several areas of the brain, may be especially helpful for brain cancer patients.
